It is interesting to note that: Ivano-Frankivsk (formerly known as Stanislav) was founded in May 1662 by Andrey Pototsky, a representative of the ancient Galician noble family, on the site of Zabolottia village. In his first privilege on May 7, 1662, Andrey Pototsky gave the founded city the right to self-rule, some privileges for crafts and trade, which were confirmed by Jan Kasimir after year one. Several generations of its owners have changed during the city formation. The founder of Stanislav, Andrey Pototsky, died in September 1691 and the city passed into the property of his son Joseph, who put much efforts in order to develop the fortress city in 1691-1751. The son of Joseph Pototsky, Stanislav, who, being a military engineer, participated in the construction of the fortifications in both Kamianets-Podilskyi and Częstochowa (Poland), did a lot to strengthen the fortress and in urban construction. Stanislav Pototsky was the owner of Stanislav in 1751-1760. In 1761, the minor Vincent Pototsky was recognized as the main heir, and he was given the keys to the Galician Gates. On his behalf, the city was ruled by Ekaterina Kosakovskaya from the Pototsky family. Interesting buildings of the city: Greek-Catholic Cathedral of the Holy Resurrection of Christ (Jesuit Church) 1729, City Hall 1675, Church and Bell-Tower (museum of arts) 1703.
