“Kukul”mountain ridge
The beautiful mountain landscapes can be seen from Kukul mountain ridge. The main Chernogora ridge with the length of 20 km looks especially beautiful, in particular, the highest mountain in the Ukrainian Carpathians, mt. Hoverla (2061 m), separated from mt. Kukul by the powerful ridge of Kozmievsk polonine (1573 m). There are many polonines along the ridge. In 1939, the Polish-Czech border passed along this ridge. The road with concrete border posts, which is used by the tourists for navigating, has partially preserved on the mountain ridge until now.
mt. Petros (2020 m)
mt. Petros (2020 m) – mt. Petros (2020 m) is the third highest peak in the Ukrainian Carpathians, after mt. Hoverla (2061) and mt. Brebeneskul (2035 m). Mt. Petros is located in Zakarpattia region on the north-western range spur, between the peaks of Hoverla and Sheshul. The name of the mountain from the Romanian language means “Stone”. When the weather is fine, a spectaculous view of surrounding mountains can be seen from the peak of mt. Petros. The ruins of the chapel and cross, as well as the bulk tour (hill) made of stones, symbolizing the peak itself, are located at the peak of mt. Petros.
