Departure by off-road vehicles “GAZ-66” to Holovchesk polonine (1550 m). While travelling: stories about the mountain ranges of the region, overview of landscapes, stops, photographing. We pass the route part along the natural soil road, smoothly climbing the mountain through a coniferous forest.

Arrival in Holovchesk polonine. Start of ascent of mt. Petros. The ascent itself does not take plenty of time, since you have passed the main route part by car. It may seem from a distance, that Petros is even higher than Hoverla, indeed it’s not like that. It is located just after Hoverla, but a little away from the main chain of the mountain ridge. Two mountains are connected by a dam, where the slopes of mt. Petros are sharply breaking for five hundred meters.

Rest at peak. Dinner (lunch-box). Mt. Petros is the second-to-last peak of the famous Chernogora ridge, one of the six Ukrainian two-thousanders with a height of 2020 m. It is located in Rakhiv district, Zakarpattia region, between the mountains Sheshul and Hoverla. The landscapes from mt. Petros are incredible. The main Chernogora ridge, which can be seen along its entire length – from Hoverla to Pop Ivan, looks especially beautiful. Admirably views (some people call them one of the best) of the highest mountain in Ukraine – Hoverla – can be also seen from mt. Petros. When the weather is sunny, almost all the Carpathians – Chornohora, Svydovets, Marmarosy and even the Romanian part of the Carpathians – can be seen.
